Saturday at the Fair: Free Bike Helmets!

Saturday will be a big day in the Upstate booth at the State Fair!

Upstate will give away 800 free bike helmets beginning at 10 a.m.  Medical professionals will make sure each helmet is fitted properly on each child, and ask the child to pledge that they always wear the helmet when riding a bicycle.

Children who are 16 and under and accompanied by an adult can receive a bike helmet while supplies last.

It’s important to ensure that helmets fit properly, because an ill-fitting helmet rarely gets worn. Children will most likely wear a helmet that fits properly rather than one that pinches, is too tight or too big. The best part? These helmets have a nice chin strap to prevent the chin pinch when you secure it!

Bike helmets save lives. Head trauma represents nearly 80 percent of the traumatic injuries leading to death in children older than a year. Upstate has the area’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, serving 14 counties from the Canada border to the Pennsylvania border.

Also on Saturday afternoon Nurse Recruiting will be on hand to let folks know about the dozens of nursing jobs now available at Upstate.

What’s so great about being a nurse at Upstate?

See you at the Fair!
